I love a good shortbread. You know the proper kind. That just melts in the mouth, made properly in the traditional manner with a minimum of quality ingredients. It could be down to my Scottish roots or maybe just a sweet tooth! It matters not, just bring on the biscuits! In honour of National Shortbread Day we have brought you a selection of our favourites, befitting of the day! You're welcome!
To kick off we have these little lovelies from Generous. Shortbread with zesty lemon, organic and gluten, free available from Planet Organic. Shortbread House from Edinburgh have won many awards for their shortbread, try these mini shortbread biscuits with Sicilian lemons. Delish! Also an award winner are these shortbread biscuits from Franks's, made with 100% butter.
More all butter (a recurring theme) shortbread are these beauties from Liberty which come in such a pretty caddy, they would make a lovely gift too. If you thought Meg Rivers only made cakes you would be wrong. She also makes some fine shortbread biscuits such as this selection which are presented in a presentation tin. From Bettys come these awesome classic biscuits made in Yorkshire at their craft bakery.
Next up in a very attractive Scottish themed tin are these delectables from Fortnum & Mason, handmade in Edinburgh. From Your Piece we have these deliciously crunchy, light shortbread biscuits handmade in Fife. From Wales we have the Aberffraw traditional shortbread, rich and buttery. Not to leave out Ireland, we have an offering from the Good Food & Wine Co. Made to their unique recipe, a truly melt in the mouth biscuit. Mmmmm.
