Pans at the ready! Yay, it's the 28th February 2017, which means Shrove Tuesday, namely Pancake Day aka a lot of pancake eating! What a great day! It allows you to gorge on heaps of beautiful pancakes. It's the day that precedes Ash Wednesday, it was traditionally used to use up all the fatty foods such as eggs, butter and milk before a period of fasting, the beginning of Lent. It always falls 47 days before Easter.
Pancakes are so versatile and easy to make, it's a wonder we don't have them more often! They can be sweet or savoury, with popular fillings being lemon and sugar, chocolate, caramel sauce, bananas and other fruits or bacon and maple syrup, whatever you want really.
So make your choice and get flipping!
Happy Pancake Day!
