Top Artisan Irish Food and Drink

Tomorrow the 17th March we celebrate Ireland's St Patrick's Day with featuring some of the best food and drink Ireland has to offer, and there's some good uns!! Of course, there are thousands of great products from Ireland, this is just a little taster!

Start the day with some small batch lemon and poitin marmalade. Poitin was reputed to be the most potent drink on the planet, with the word 'poit' the Irish for hangover! It's OK in marmalade though! There will be a few whiskies drank this night and we have found this single grain, double barrel whiskey from Glendalough Distillery. There's Irish liqueur in the creamy fudge or if gin is more your tipple, why not try ShortCross Gin which is distilled and bottled in Northern Ireland, a classic gin, using local botanicals.

Next we have some hawthornberry jelly, with ingredients locally foraged by the family who makes it and is then handmade in small batches, a real taste of Ireland! This beef dripping is a must have, from Patrick Whelan, it was crowned Supreme Champion in 2015 at the Great Taste Awards, beating 10,000 products to the coveted title! If you fancy a change from tomato ketchup, why not try this mushroom version. Organic, Irish hot smoked salmon is up next, very tasty! Or try some Irish biltong, 100% Irish gourmet beef snack. If you love cheese, this cheese board could be for you, full of tempting cheeses and chutney from Indie Fude. From the Irish farmhouse cheese makers is this fine blue cheese from Cashel, made from grass fed cows milk. And lastly if ale is your tipple then let me introduce you to this, The Full Irish, from Eight Degrees Brewing! Happy St Patrick's Day!
