As a special treat in the run up to Burn's Night we have put together some super Scottish foods from the magnificent Scotland. Of course, there are thousands of brilliant Scottish food products, but as it's not possible to include them all now, we have produced a snippet for you to enjoy below:
Always a favourite is chocolate, and this by Raven Chocolates, is no exception. What a wonderful find, it is an organic, small batch, bean to bar chocolate made in Aberdeenshire. Next up is a very traditional Scottish pudding known as a clootie dumpling, this award winning one we have featured is by the Auchtermuchty Cake Co. Scotland produces some great beef and this from the Hebridean Food Co is exceptional. The cattle are organically reared and graze on an uninhabited island in summer and on the sparse heather hills in winter. This Uig award winning smoked salmon would make a tasty starter on Burn's Night! Another very traditional Scottish food is black pudding like this one from Ramsay. Nick Nairn stated in the Sunday Mail that it was “The Best Black Pudding in Scotland”. And of course, you canna ha Burn's Night without a haggis. This one from Macsween won a rocking 3 stars at the Great Taste Awards!
Another great starter would be this wee charcuterie platter from Great Glen which only uses wild venison. Many great Scots will start the day with a bowl of piping hot porridge so we couldn't not mention a fine Scottish porridge, so we bring you this fine offering from Stoats. You might also like some toast and spread it with some fine Scottish jam such as this from Galloway Lodge who only use Scottish fruit and produce it in a traditional way in small batches. How about adding some seaweed to your food, a natural superfood, harvested from the cold seas around Scotland. Last but not least, season your food with some seasalt from the Isle of Skye, recently featured on the James Martin BBC1 Home Comforts programme, so you may have to wait a little longer for your order! But well worth the wait! Enjoy your Burn's Night supper!
